Our Why

Emmy's diagnosis came when she was five months old. In the years of treatment that followed, her family learned firsthand what day to day survival and healing requires. Good food, community, and joyful experiences reach what medicine cannot. To that end, Emmy's parents want to take their experience and alchemize it into positive change.

"I'm a firm believer that without some rain clouds every once in awhile, you can't fully appreciate all the sunny days. Taking the time to suss out some positive aspect of a negative situation, takes it and turns it into something that you can learn from, building upon insight and strength. It doesn't have to remain some adverse shadow that follows you around souring your days, but something you can sometimes harness and legitimately grow from. It also, like those rain clouds, makes the good in our lives seem that much better, the sun shining a bit brighter."
